Tenor Trombones are available in two types. The Bb instrument is generally available with both a medium and large bore: the medium is used by students and the large bore is used by the symphony orchestra. The mouthpieces for these instruments have different sized shanks. The Bb and F trombone has additional tubing and a trigger - using this will not only extend the low register, but facilitate alternative slide positions.
