The xylophone was originally found in African and Javanese orchestras in the 4th century. This high quality model from Yamaha is 3.5 octaves long, with paduak notebars.
A step up model from the 30G, the YX 35G xylophone has a professional keyboard range of 31/2 octaves. Padouk being the closest equivolent to rosewood sonically but less rare a breed of timber means that whilst the sound produced by this instrument is of astounding warmth and brightness its cost is still kept within reach for the student player.
