Buffet B12

The Buffet B12 clarinet is still the most popular and recognised student clarinet amongst teachers.  Built to much higher standards than most starter models, the B12 has been designed to look and feel as similar as possible to Buffet’s professional models and to prepare the student for future progress through the grades. 

The use of the diaphragm is very important when playing the clarinet and the B12 has a lot of resistance, particularly around the break, which requires the use of firm muscles both with the diaphragm and embouchure.  Although to start with this may make the instrument more difficult to play, this is very good for students in the long term, as it builds their stamina and improves the ability to play long passages with uninterrupted air flow.  It has a warm, mellow sound which is the trademark of the wooden Buffet clarinet range as a whole, and is highly recommended for students of all ages.
