Roland Gaia

Old school meets cutting edge!  The Roland SH01 (Gaia) is a creative synthesiser with analogue-style control and an incredibly powerful sound engine based on virtual analogue modelling technology.

Filtering, envelopes, ring mod and noise generation may be familiar to many passionate synth users, and the Gaia has this in abundance, with much more in terms of creative features and control.

Not unlike Roland's classic (SH101), the lightweight Gaia weighs in at only 4.9Kg and will look familiar to some.  Unlike the SH101 however, the front panel oozes class wih 'glassy' coloured buttons and a contrasting black/white finished fascia. With a sensitive 37-note keyboard, the Gaia is loaded with 64 preset & 64 programmable voices biased towards leads, pads and basses - (don't expect orchestral voices on the Gaia)!!

Modern technological elements such as USB 2.0 connectivity, memorystick compatibility and a handy 'phrase recorder' are onboard, as well as exciting arpeggiating patterns and a huge collection of effects.  Performace features include Roland's acclaimed 'D-Beam' controller, and the usual pitch/mod lever.

Mains or battery powered (for remote playing), the Gaia is not overly complicated and therefore makes for a suitable educational model where learning about synthesis is both fascinating and fun and for 80's style gigging musicians, the Gaia is both powerful and affordable (as well as looking cool)!
