A development of our best selling portable stage piano, Yamaha's latest P-255 see upgrades and new features, and is a kilo lighter than it's predecessor (the now retired P-155). Available in black or white, the P255 is set to be the new benchmark for portable stage pianos!
The P255 portable stage piano is available early 2014, and employs Yamaha's state-of-the-art 'Pure CF' sampling engine, together with Graded Hammer keys for an authentic feel, touch and response. Both of these features are used by the mighty Yamaha Clavinova range.
USB compatible with MIDI as standard, Yamaha have surpassed themselves with the introduction of the P255, and we are ready to recommend it to players of all abilities, from beginners to seasoned players and gigging professionals. The P-255 is set to be the new standard for use on stage too, in school halls and for Church performances. This is partly due to the fact that the P-255 features stereo line outputs (jack type), allowing it to be connected to a PA system or 'combo' amplifier for extra volume where needed.
With a staggering 256-notes of polyphony (!), the P255 has a sleek chassis which houses a superb collection of useful sounds which include FOUR acoustic pianos, newly designed modern and retro electic pianos, harpsichord, vibes, strings, basses, Tutti and Jazz organs, vibe, clavi, choir and a rich 'synth pad', with splitting and layering functions as standard. The exquisite acoustic pianos shine through with gorgeous rich, classical tones, and feature intricate sampled elements such as damper resonance, key-off samples and more. This is due to the amazing 'Pure-CF' technology which Yamaha have developed over several years. The result is astounding!
Most of these sounds have variations too, and can be enhanced with the onboard effects, which now extend to 'phaser', 'tremelo', 'reverb', 'chorus' and, for the first time, a convenient 3-band EQ system in the form of sliders. Now, the player has instant control over the tone whether playing through a PA system or via the built-in (and very potent) 15-watt stereo speaker system!
Recording? Right at hand, in the form of a two-track recorder. The P255 exports your songs as SMF format to an optional memorystick, yet Yamaha have decided to incorporate digital audio recording, allowing the user to record the performance as a 'wav' format file to memorystick. With up to 80 minutes per song, this digital file can be edited on a computer or even emailed to the student, choir or band to help them rehearse. And, if the P255 is at hand for live performance with no player to hand, pop in the memorystick and the show really can go on!
Supplied with a sustain pedal (FC4), music rest and mains adaptor, we have a range of practical stand suited to this model. Alternatively, Yamaha have developed a matching wooden stand (L255), as well as a three-pedal board for the full compliment of piano pedals (LP255). At just 17.3Kg, it is made easier to transport with one of our range of gigbags as shown below.
