Yamaha YCL650

The semi-professional YCL-650 replaced the popular YCL64 and sits at the top of Yamaha's intermediate range (or at the start of the professional range - the jury is out!). This Bb instrument not only features the same changes that can be found on the introductory and intermediate models but it is also hand finished.

For those players who are progressing up through the grades they will find the YCL-650 easy to adapt to when upgrading from one Yamaha clarinet to another. It is also an excellent instrument for those taking the higher grades or for those entering higher education. Yamaha have stayed with the same internal bore design giving a superior tone quality and better intonation.

The bore on the upper section is tapered and the tone holes are undercut enabling the player to produce a more rounded sound. Once the tone holes have been drilled there is a final finishing process called undercutting which helps the air flow freely into the tone hole.

With silver-plated nickel keys and Grenadilla wood body for a warm, round and resonant tone, the YCL650 has other finishing processes which give this lovely instrument advantages over other models.
