International Schools & Consolidators

Every city throughout the world has “International Schools” which teach the British, American or Baccalareat syllabus to children of ex-pats wherever they may be. Many are part of an organisation (such as ECIS, NordAnglia etc) and a high proportion of these schools already have accounts with Starland. For example, we have supplied four International schools in Beijing, over thirty international schools in the Gulf states, and there is hardly a country in the world which does not have a single Starland school customer. Often, the Director of Music is a past friend of ours, having trained in the UK before going on to a career teaching overseas.

Sometimes, it is obviously cheaper for them to purchase locally, but we are surprised by how much we can save our customers in certain parts of the globe. Usually, electronic equipment can be sourced locally with full local technical support – we do not seek to supply if this is the case. In many occasions, the selection is just not available in the country, so our export department can provide a quotation for consideration. Contact them on [email protected]

There are a small number of UK firms who gather together educational orders for various departments in a school, and consolidate the orders in a UK warehouse before shipping a container to the school wherever they may be. Starland’s Managing Director, Nick Kilby, works closely with consolidation firms to source equipment which is sturdy enough for global travel, and affordable enough to be good value even after travelling thousands of miles.  For those international schools who have a contract to use a particular consolidator, please send an email to [email protected] which helps us work closely with the consolidator to effect timely and affordable solutions anywhere in the world.

 OUR VISION FOR 2020

The digital age is upon us, and we have updated our company's systems to provide Educationalists with the best possible service, with interactive links via email, the Starland website and our interactive "Request Quote" service. If you are researching a  purchase on behalf of an international school, log on to your school’s account for preferential educational prices.

Our system is uniquely interactive, as we start with a telephone conversation or an email from you, our customer, to establish your needs.  An initial quotation is sent with some notes on each item with suggestions and useful tips if appropriate.  We encourage you to respond with your thoughts, and then respond with an amended quote to meet your revised needs, and can do this several times until you are happy to discuss this with senior finance colleagues. A copy can be simply forwarded to a Bursar or Headteacher, or printed for discussion in a meeting, or attached to a bid from a funding organisation.

The quotation is written so that music teachers AND non-music staff can easily understand the proposal, and click on links for further information.

All the time, we are making recommendations from the point of view of a teaching environment, understanding the need to meet tight budgets, but realising that the cheapest alternative can often be the worst option for encouraging young beginners to enjoy practicing.  We want to help you to build EXCELLENT musicians for the future.
