The Tabla Drum is a percussion instrument originally used in Hindustani classical music and in the popular and devotional music of India. The instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and timbres.
This instrument is played with various parts of the hand to produce different sounds, and wasdesigned to allow more complex sounds and rhythm structures to be produced to accompany certain types of Indian vocal music.
The smaller drum of this pair is wooden and the larger is metal, both with thong tensioning. This instrument is supplied complete with padded carry bag and seat rings.
