Tascam's DR40X records in various formats (wav, MP3 or BWF), at staggering rates up to 96kHz (24 bit), and has an extended recording time of 15 hours when powered by three AA batteries.

With a seriously good microphone configuration built-in, the DR40X allows for overdubbing too and recordings can be played back via its onboard preview speaker. And, with jack or XLR inputs (phantom power is available), the DR40X provides a selection of essential tools too such as a chromatic tuner, onboard reverb, playback EQ and much more!

The DR-40X captures up to four tracks from built-in, high-quality stereo cardioid condenser microphones, XLR mic or line inputs. The internal mics are adjustable from XY to AB position, helping you to tailor your recording to the sound of the room. A pair of great-sounding TASCAM microphone preamps welcome condenser microphones with phantom power, recording at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution. It accommodates balanced XLR or 1/4" line inputs using locking Neutrik Combo jacks. The DR-40X accepts SD or SDHC cards up to 128GB.

In addition to normal stereo recording and dual recording, the DR-40X has a four-channel mode that allows you to record two different stereo feeds simultaneously. You're flexible with the combination of the sources: record with the built-in microphones along with a pair of external mics for close-up and ambient sound, for example. Or use the built-in mics together with balanced line input to record the sound in the room along with a feed from a mixer.

Once recorded, play back your takes with EQ and the optional Level Align feature to avoid volume jumps. A stereo reverb effect is also built-in, as well as a speaker and chromatic tuner. Transfer recordings to computer using the USB 2.0 jack. Other features include overdub mode, variable speed playback, limiting and low cut filter, and much more – all with TASCAM’s simple-to-use interface.

This is certainly an advanced model, and we would be happy to discuss suitability with you. Ring us on (01752) 313300 for further details.
