Howarth Junior Oboe

The Howarth junior oboe outfit is based on the tried and tested design of the extremely popular standard range of student oboes. Designed specifically for young beginners this instrument is a fully closed-hole model and has a special lightweight key mechanism. There are also extensions on 4 finger plates which give greater comfort, especially for smaller hands and the use of standard fingering makes it much easier for students to progress to more advanced models. 

It has a fully chromatic 2 1/2 octave range from bottom C and uses standard oboes reeds. With a body made of African blackwood the instrument has a good tonal quality and comes set up, ready to play and complete with a solid student model case. 

Howarths are the very definition of a specialist manufacturer. They have been continually in existence since 1948 although the name Howarth has been associated with woodwind manufacture since the 1870s. They are, today, considered to be one of the finest bespoke manufacturers of oboes, oboes d'amore and English horns and their instruments are all extremely high quality. Their student models are justifiably well regarded and are popular throughout the education sector.
