Many of our customers ask us to recommend a simple five-octave keyboard WITHOUT hundreds of voices and rhythms, and this would be one of the most likely contenders.  The NP12 is a slim, lightweight battery-powered 'practice' model (supplied with a mains adaptor), and is an extention of Yamaha's 'Piaggero' range of keyboards.

With USB connectivity for programming existing software (Sibelius, Cubase etc), the NP12 has a 61-note 'semi-weighted' key action which, whilst hollow, provides a slightly more substantial feel than a similar priced portable keyboard. 

At just 4.5Kg, the NP12 is extremely portable and practical and, with just 10 IMPORTANT onboard sounds (pianos, electric pianos, harpsichord, strings etc), there is little to play with. However, the sounds employ Yamaha's acclaimed AWM sound engine, along with a superb premium acoustic piano voice. All of the sounds can be heard via the onboard speakers (2 x 2.5w output), and a simple song recorder is also at hand. For those who wish to record via computer software, the NP12 now has USB compatibility.

Although not supplied with a pedal, an optional FC3 sustain/damper can be connected and 'half-pedalling' is supported.
