Kawai' digital model with MIDI recorder Grand Feel Compact wooden keys and basic 20w speaker system.

Combining the Grand Feel Compact wooden-key keyboard action and stunning SK-EX grand piano sounds employing all-new samples, specifically recorded from the player’s perspective. This now includes the stunning SK-EX Competition Grand sound.

The Grand Feel Compact action also incorporates grade-weighted hammers, bass region counterweights, and let-off simulation for added authenticity, while its accurate triple-sensor key detection system allows rapidly repeated notes such as trills to be performed smoothly, without unnatural breaks in sound.

The CA401 digital piano's primary piano sound comes from Kawai’s flagship Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano, along with the sound of the highly acclaimed EX concert grand piano. Both pianos have been meticulously sampled and faithfully reproduced using Harmonic Imaging sound technology. This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original grand pianos, affording pianists an extraordinary level of expressiveness ranging from the softest pianissimo to the strongest, boldest fortissimo. A total of 19 premium voices are onboard playes across the 192-note polyphonic keyboard.

Virtual Technician digitally simulates the subtleties of the acoustic piano sound, allowing performers to shape various aspects of the piano’s tonal character and playability to suit their unique personal preferences, before storing favourite setups to memory for immediate recall.

A simple MIDI recorder is onboard for those who wish to practice pieces (no USB audio recorder on the CA401), and Kawai have clearly developed this model for the beginner, or as a suitable model for the classroom with a stereo 20w speaker system.

With USB and 2 x headphone sockets (note there are NO line outputs), the Kawai CA-401 is available in Satin Black, Satin White or Rosewood  as shown above (please note that a piano stool is NOT included - examples shown below).
