Growing steadily in popularity, the cajon is a box, made from carefully-selected woods with good tonal resonance, usually with a snare-type attachment to one side. The cajon originates from Peru and provides a percussionist with a superb rhythmic tool on which to sit too, and you can hear the cajon being used in Afro-Peruvian music, as well as Jazz, Flamenco and Mexican folk music.
