Starland Music's Privacy Policy 2016-18

This privacy policy sets out how Starland Music Ltd uses and protects any information that you give us when you use this website.

Our company is PCI compliant, approved by Security Metrics in August 2014, and last updated and approved on 30/8/2017. Starland Music Ltd has also been registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) with registration reference Z9318270 since 27th March 2006 and re-registered each year with current registration expiring 26th March 2019.

Starland Music Ltd is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.    We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 1st March 2018, and has been re-written in observance of the GDPR regulations which will come into effect this year.

We may collect the following information:-

  1. name and job title - as an Education Supplies company, the data we keep is largely based upon teaching institutions, charities and other organisations.
  2. contact information including email, telephone and physical address
  3. Publicly-available information on the school or organisation you belong to (if registering on behalf of an educational institution     

What we do with the information we gather

We require this minimal amount of information to understand your institution's needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping of all transactions made by the Customer, to be able to send invoice copies and answer questions from Finance Officers about the institution's past business.
  • We may use the information to improve the range and selection of our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. 
  • Sale information will include essential details of address and primary contact to enable our couriers and fulfillment partners to deliver your order.  Your email address and delivery address will be shared with our warehouse partners Frederick Hyde Ltd and couriers (Parcelforce, UPS, DPD, TNT, Royal Mail) to enable us to send you delivery and tracking notifications.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information toacontact you by email, phone or by post. 

Social media policy

Starland Music Ltd is a specialist Education Supplies company running accounts with many schools, colleges and institutions.  We have no interest in keeping individuals' profile information,"likes" or other marketing information, and have deleted the company's rarely-used Twitter and Facebook accounts, to avoid any data entered by our customers inadvertantly being harvested by Facebook, Twitter or social media companies that they deal with.


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure,we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

How we use cookies

Performance Cookies: These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages.  These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous.  We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Functionality & Advertising  Cookies: These cookies may also be used to provide services such as Social Sharing.  We do not use these types of cookies which are provided by social network services and other third parties, and have closed all social media accounts as they have minimal control over your data . They commonly set cookies which enable visitors to post links to, ‘Like’ or comment on a site through their social networks, and we do not currently use this material.

Summary:  Overall, our very limited use of cookies helps us provide you with a better service.
