The Marimba is a Latin American percussion instrument which is originally of African origin. It is similar to the xylophone in construction but with larger resonators.

It is pitched an octave lower than the xylo, is more mellow in tone, and is one of the most versatile instruments in the mallet percussion family. It blends well with almost any other instrument.
