The lightweight portable Yamaha PSRF52 features an eclectic range of onboard voices and rhythm styles, together with a sleek chassis. It is set to be just as popular with schools and music education, as it offers the basic features for teaching basic keyboard skills and is sensibly priced for the budget conscious.

This 61-note (5-octave) keyboard features an LED window where the onboard voices can be typed in from a selection printed list on the main panel. Carefully selected sounds from Asia, China, India and the Middle East brings the total to 136 onboard voices for users to experiment and play with, and these sit side by side with piano, guitars, orchestral, drum and even one or two synthesizer sounds!

The exciting collection of 158 onboard musical styles (fingered with the left hand) provide an inspiring range of musical genres and these, together with the palette of voices can be played and monitored via the 2.5w stereo speakers. The speakers have some depth too but can be muted if headphones are connected.

With full sized keys (NOT sensitive) and reverb and chorus effects, the PSRF52 features the important transpose and tuning controls, whilst connectivity is limited as a sustain pedal socket is NOT supported. However, a headphone socket is standard issue in the form of a stereo MINIjack (3.5mm) design.

The PSR-F52 has a multi-fingering mode for left hand accompaniment play, so players can implement single finger or full finger chord methods.

Supplied with a mains adaptor, Yamaha's PSRF52 is extremely easy to use, compact and portable, and Yamaha have clearly designed this model for the budget conscious.

Basic? Yes, but incredibly good value for the classroom.
