Yamaha YVS-120 Alto Venova

The past few years has seen a major upturn in student's learning to play plastic musical instruments which are lightweight and easy to maintain.  Now, Yamaha have thrown their hat in to the ring with the fantastic looking Alto Venova.

With fingering similar to that of a recorder and sound similar to that of an alto saxophone, this is a great 'casual' and fun instrument for those students wanting to learn a lightweight wind instrument which can provide very quick results!

The Venova features:

The unique shape of the instrument, which produces the sound of a full-size saxophone with much less body, is the result of many years of research. With a "branched pipe" added to the cylindrical bore, the tone of a conical bore instrument (e.g. saxophone) is achieved in an impressively compact size.

The body, made with ABS resin, is durable and washable with water. With a durable resin reed and synthetic pads, cleaning is made even easier, adding to the convenience of the YVS-120.

A meandering pipe is used to shrink the distance between tone holes for a simplified structure. This also helps to simplify the fingering systems, making them similar to recorders and very easy to play even for those who are new to wind instruments. Despite this simplification, the YVS-100 still boasts a two octave range.
