We Think

The Tascam DP03SD is a breeze to use and is suitable for those who are starting out for the first time in the world of multitrack digital recorders.

A compact, sleek design with a logical layout and interface, the DP-03SD represents Tascam's legendary recording quality and innovative ideas, with an array of built-in useful tools and storage to capture a band rehearsal or performance.

This is an eight track model which captures two tracks simultaneously via its built-in microphone (useful for putting song ideas together), or your instrument can be plugged in directly in to one of the eight channels. Phantom power is available for the two XLR inputs when using condenser microphones.

A metronome and tuner underlines the fact that the DP-03SD is really useful as a guitarist's digital recorder, who may want to record additional instruments (drum machine / bass guitar / synth).

With nine 45mm faders and separate EQ on each channel as well as reverb effects and panning controls, your mix can be recorded very quickly and easily before being exported as a digital WAV file to SD cards (SD card 512 MB – 2 GB or SDHC card 4–32 GB).

All the important inputs/outputs are featured (headphones out and stereo RCA line outs), and these 16-bit (44.1kHz) recordings can be saved to the supplied SD card if necessary.

Alternatively, USB 2.0 connectivity allows for streaming into a computer, ready for CD burning. Brilliantly designed all round, the DP-03SD is great value.
