A compact classical sounding model from Kawai, the KDP120 employs the 'Responsive Hammer Compact II' (RHCII) keyboard action which has been developed to represent the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano, including weighted and graded hammers and three sensors for enhanced repetition and accuracy. Kawai’s action technology also monitors the speed at which each key is lifted, influencing the release character of piano sounds, and providing a greater range of expression between staccato and legato playing.
The KDP-120 digital piano captures the beautiful sound of Kawai’s highly acclaimed concert grand piano, with all 88 keys of this exceptional instrument meticulously recorded, analysed and faithfully reproduced using advanced Harmonic Imaging technology. Supplementing its realistic acoustic piano voices, the KDP120 also offers a selection of additional instrument sounds, including electric pianos, organs, harpsichord, vibraphone, and strings.
All of these wonderful sounds can be heard via the 20w stereo speaker system although a lack of audio output sockets means it cannot be connected to an amplifier or PA system.
It features a USB-MIDI port and standard MIDI In/Out jacks, allowing the piano to be connected to a computer for notating compositions, or to other MIDI devices such as synthesisers and workstations. Dual headphone sockets enable a teacher and pupil to study together in silence, or for two pianists to practice simultaneously using a single instrument.
In addition to USB-MIDI and standard MIDI connectors, the KDP-120 also boast integrated Bluetooth MIDI technology, allowing the digital piano to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly. Once paired with a phone, tablet, or laptop, KDP120 owners can easily expand the instrument’s functionality with a wide range of education, performance, and scoring apps.
A dedicated Kawai Virtual Technician control app is also freely available, providing an enjoyable way to learn about and adjust various acoustic piano characteristics from an attractive touch interface, without the need for additional adaptors or cables.
This unique feature replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert grand piano to further enhance the KDP120’s acoustic piano-like authenticity.
Available in rosewood or black satin finishes as shown above (please specify colour choice when ordering), and note that a piano stool is NOT included (examples shown below).
