Perhaps one of the most discussed models by Music Teachers (and highly recommended by us!), Yamaha's acclaimed PSRE373 five octave model is a brilliantly designed music keyboard for schools due to it's range of essential educational features, quality of tone, ease of use and value!
Highly recommended for schools as a 'standalone' desktop model for students, but equally as suited to advanced users who use music software (Sibelius, Garage Band, Logic and Cubase for example).
The successor to the mighty PSRE363, this is Yamaha's PSR-E373, a 'progressive' touch-sensitive 61-note USB model, with power supply and an expanded range of voices and musical styles. A practical design
The Yamaha PSR373 is important as this 61-note model is Yamaha's first in their lineup offering both USB compatibility and touch-sensitive keys for expressive playing. It features an extended range of sounds which now total 622 (with Super Articulation Lite voices!), as well as a whopping 205 rhythmic accompaniment styles, a new arpeggiator function and registration memories (as required by some examination boards).
Superb value and supplied with a mains adaptor, the PSRE373 provides composers with a 5-song recorder (2-tracks) song recorder, and important educational features such as registration memories (x9), and split / layer features are standard issue on an instrument of this 'progressive' level.
The PSRE373 employs a staggering variety of onboard voices, from orchestral sounds, through to synths, guitars, brass, woodwind and drums, whilst the rhythm accompaniments include traditional styles, mixed with modern day dance types and even ethnic styles.
The keyboard is now finished in black, and adopts a sleek chassis whilst sporting small bass boost ports to project a richer bass output, whilst an LCD display sits in the middle and helps with navigation of the sounds, digital effects, rhythms, registration memories and split/layer and harmony effects.
The keyboards 'action' feels firm and is touch-sensitive to allow students to play with a level of expression (similar to a piano) and, for those who wish to use this model with Cubase, Sibelius, Garage Band etc, the PSRE373 works brilliantly (PC and Mac drivers available to download). It's easy to use at beginner level too and, as with all Yamaha keyboards, navigation is very logical
The PSR-E373 supports streaming audio from an i-Pod via a minijack socket on the rear panel, allowing the user to play their favourite tracks through the 2.5w speakers.
