Bringing professional quality sound to a new lower price point, this exciting model boasts a wide range of music production tools, with a massive (and very inspiring) range of voices, styles and effects.

Replacing Yamaha's now discontinued PSRE463, the PSR-E473 is ideal as a standalone desktop model for general teaching, and features outputs (left and right) for connecting to a PA for performance work.

At only 7Kg in weight it's easy to transport too. USB compatible, the PSR-e473 is suitable in a school's Music Technology lab (particularly as a Teacher's model), and can be used as a controller for music software systems (PC and Mac).

With a plethora of features for quick and easy music production, Yamaha's PSRE-473 looks great too with plenty of control knobs and buttons, yet is surprisingly easy to navigate.

The PSRE473 is an advanced workstation, with sampling, synthesis, sequencer for tech enthusiasts but retains all the important features which exam boards specify such as split/layer facility, registrations memories for instant recall of setups and 'Syncro Start/Stop' And of course, a rich, varies range of beautiful and exciting sounds, from premium pianos, through to explosive drums, searing synths and gentle woodwind voices (and just about everything else inbetween given that there is over 800 professional quality voices onboard)!

Quick sampling enables you to capture sounds via your iOS device and the Aux In port and trigger them in your performances via assignable keys. Groove Creator enables creating of DJ style tracks, starting with the beat and adding and adapting layers on the fly mid performance. The Motion Effect function lets you instantly add effects while you play that can, morph the sound with a filter, create pitch risers, add tape stop effects & slices, or other new dynamic sound effects. All by simply holding down the button

Yamaha have included some cutting-edge sound technologies too (the amazing Super Articulation engine, Sweet, Cool and Dynamic voicing for example), resulting in a fantastic and authentic range of musical sounds (some of which are normally very difficult to reproduce digitally). Yet, Yamaha have broken through, and voices such as acoustic guitars and saxophones are stunningly lifelike! .

The keyboard feels solid and responsive and, with USB and a memorystick socket, performances are recorded and saved as SMF (Standard MIDI Files)' files. This in itself is reason enough for those in education to consider the PSR-E473, as it now means that students own compositions (using the onboard 6-track sequencer) can be stored and recalled quickly and easily, or streamed to a PCs and other devices where 'digital files can be created and stored.

The sequencer (recorder) allows for 6-tracks of recording with a total memory capacity of 19,000 notes shared between 10 song locations as 'original format' before opting to convert to SMF (Standard MIDI File format). Your songs are stored to internal flash memory before opting to back them up to memorystick. Yamaha have now taken this a stage further, and your complete performance can now be recorded as a digital 'WAV' format file via USB memory too!

Of course, as you would expect from a Yamaha keyboard, the PSR-E473 provides a healthy collection of musical 'styles' (backing tracks), which can be controlled with the left hand via advanced 'fingered chords' or 'single-finger' chords for those who are just starting to learn to play. Again, Yamaha have sourced these styles from around the world, and each of the 290styles provided by the PSRE473 are extremely authentic with up to the minute dance/trance anthems to Rock, Pop, Dance, Latin, Swing, Ballad etc.

Onboard digital effects and even EQ settings allow for overall control of the sound which is played via stereo (6 watt) speakers, and of course a headphone socket is standard for those who need to practice in silence. No line output sockets on this model, but a stereo line-input is featured for connection of your i-Pod, i-Pad, CD-player and other sources, allowing you to play along with your favourite bands.

For those who wish to be ultra creative and experiment with sounds, the PSR-E473 has a basic synthesiser (in the form of two control knobs) which allows both sounds and styles to be manipulated in a variety of ways. Sound filtering, resonance, effects and envelope parameters are avialable to control in realtime, but if you are recording using the sequencer, any changes made to your current sound is recorded and played straight back. An arpeggiator is onboard too (150 types) for some serious inspiration.

As required by several examination boards, the PSR-E473 features 32 'registration memories' too which takes a 'snapshot' of your own personal setups for instant recall as you play, and a pitchbend wheel (for simulating guitar string slides for example) is also also at hand.

Supplied with a mains adaptor, the PSR-E473 is a significant model, and ideal for Colleges and Universities who may be looking to upgrade or setup a new Music Department.
