With a weighted 'GH3' key action, the YDPS55 has a better key feel than some lower priced Arius models, and is therefore a little more suited to the serious player.

Now with a massive 192 notes of polyphony, YDPS55 does inspire with its ten meticulously 'sampled' tones, and the stereo Yamaha grand piano tone is both rich and dynamic, with three dynamic levels available when playing with expression.

The piano sounds are powered by Yamaha's 'PURE-CF' technology which delivers authentic acoustic pianos complete with Key off samples, damper resonance and string resonance elements. Electric pianos and harpsichord also feature and this is all heard via stereo 8-watt speakers intelligent acoustic control (IAC), and this poweroutput are suited to a small classroom or living room.

For those practicing, the YDPS55 has a little onboard recorder (1-song / 2-tracks), and for those composing with music software, USB makes an apperance for easy connection to your favourite music computer programs.

No audio outputs on this model unfortunately and therefore not capable of connecting to an external amplifier or PA system, but twin headphone sockets again underline the YPDS54 as a practice model, where student and teacher can both monitor skill/performance progress in silence or via the stereo 20w speakers onboard.
